hey hey...

so this week has been really good. i feel like i´ve had a lot of progress with the language and also with the gospel. here are a bunch of random things that happened to me this week:

first, the brazilians in our room are crazy. one of them reminds me of ahh-boo from aladdin--the little monkey guy--and he´s super awesome. every night before he goes to bed he makes monkey/donald duck noises that rock. the other guy is a bit more normal but he´s also way tight. we can communicate pretty well with what we´ve learned so far, and they love show us pictures of all their friends and family.
and then there´s this one brazilian two doors down that is super crazy. he lives up north, and he was telling us about how once he was just walking and he got caught in the middle of a gun battle between the cops and the drug lords. anyway...he was in the middle of the cross-fire and got shot 3 times. the first two bullets hit him in the tricep and shoulder, and those both shot all the way through him but the third hit him in the lung. he´s still got it there and he showed us the crazy scar. he´s hard core. and he´s also really good at magic tricks. he did this one that totally amazed me.

my companion also decided that he wants to get buff, so our whole district kinda united around him and we all decided we were gonna start doing push-ups and stuff. this is good news, because i´m getting FAT!! all i do is eat, sleep, and sit in the classroom for 12 hours a day, so basically its not good. i´m up to almost 70 kilos, which is like 150lbs. so i´ve gained like 8 pounds and i don´t even know how, because even though we just sit all day, the rice and beans is just burning through my body and i´m always hungry. maybe i´m growing...

I also started a wall-ball revolution down here in the CTM. a bunch of the people who don´t like basketball that much started it and its super fun. so that´s cool.

so the other day i learned that the words for coconut and poop. yep. coconut=coco, and poop=cocô. you can hardly tell the difference and i know i´m going to butcher this about 50 times before i finally get it right.

another thing i love about brazil is the soccer. a couple days ago, there was a soccer game pretty close to here. you can´t see the stadium from the CTM, but the fireworks are super super loud. we were trying to get to sleep, but the fireworks kept going off so we talked to the brazilians and i guess ronaldo was playing which was super cool.

oh, and thanks for the package. i got the first one you sent and it was super awesome. i think you also mentioned that you were sending another. awesome, but probably don´t send any more because otherwise they won´t get here before i leave. it took about 2.5 weeks so anyway. and thanks for the letters and pictures!! they were super awesome. we can´t hang stuff on our wall but if i could i would. and thanks for the letters from erik. keep on sending those cause they´re great. I also heard that i have a blog, which is cool. i had no idea you would set one up, and i´m assuming that someone else did it. but anyway, thanks, and i kinda wanna see it so if you can send me the link that´d be awesome.

today we went to the temple and that was really good. after, we took pictures and i think the branch president is sending them to you so Dad, check your email.

anyway, i love you all and hope you´re having a fun time with whatever you´re doing. have fun and go to snoasis a lot for me. i love being down here, preparing to bring the gospel to all the people of brazil. its gonna be awesome....

Love,
