hello hello--

well....this past week has been swell. It was Semana Santa here in Brasil, which basically means that all of the Catholic people are out and about doing all of the things they do. lighting candles, waving palm fronds, and other suff. it was a good culture experience. All week long, people gave us this rice pudding stuff called caldo de cão (mispelled, i´m pretty sure) but yeh, it was funny cause everyone was giving it to us. And then on Friday (the day that Christ was crucified) no one ate meat. However, we were at this one lady´s house, and she was like: "oh yeah, we don´t eat red meat today, because today´s friday and the symbolizm and...." But while she was telling us that, a delivery person delivered two live chickens in a cardboard box, and she killed them that night. So who knows. It´s legit to kill a chicken in your kitchen (rhyme here?), but ya just can´t eat till tomorrow, eh?

Also, General Conference: I like what I saw, but I would´ve liked to have seen more. Yeh. that´s about it. Cachoeiro is so ghetto and out in the boonies that even the satellite doesn´t reach it. I arrived at the church, all pumped and ready to go, but the satellite wasn´t getting received or something because of a storm, and so we missed the first session. then, in a miracle, the second session was all good and i saw it in english. I was all excited to see priesthood session, which would be re-broadcasted sunday morning, but the satellite was down so i missed that too. but yeah, it was still good. i saw the two sunday sessions, and loved them, and also saturday afternoon. hope everyone had the chance to see it too.

And.....this week is transfers. I don´t know if I´ll be transfered or not, buuutttt.....i´m 95% sure that I´m up up and away. you´ll just have to wait till next week for the news.

And real quick: the easter bunny came. well....kind or. I was planning on playing the easter bunny and hiding eggs for my comp and the other missionaries in Cachoeiro, but then I found out that they don´t have plastic eggs down here in brasil. so that didn´t work out, but we did make an easter breakfast, which consisted of scrambled eggs, home-maid hash-browns, juice, pineapple, and bananas. and then i bought a little candy but it wasn´t the same. it just tastes better coming from a pink plastic egg.

But yeah, so things down here are classy. I´m loving it, and i´ll be loving it in my new area (maybe). well, have fun and keep the commandments. re-read those general conference talks. there isn´t a doubt in my mind that those men are inspired and that Thomas S Monson is God´s prophet upon the earth today. Love you all. be good.
Sincerly,

Elder Tyler Tasso
