Hey guys--
so this week has been pretty good. I´m kinda getting used to mission life, and i must say its better than it was in the CTM. here, its sweet because every morning i just wake up, get ready, study, and then i´m off. we take the bus to our area, and walk around, make contacts, and then head to our lunch appointment which is usually pretty good.
lunch is always beans and rice, and then it´ll be something else like speghetti or some brazilian dish. when i was in the ctm, they warned me not to eat too much because sometimes the families are so poor that the food they give us is all they have for the year or soemthing outrageous. not here. in campos everything is so cheap its practically free. i bought a fresh, delicious pineapple that smelled like crazy town. it was R$2, or one american dollar. a bunch of the best bananas i´ve ever had (here in brazil its not just bananas, but they´ve got like 10 kinds) were the same price. but anyway...the people aren´t starving. rice and beans are even cheaper then fresh fruit.
after lunch, we work work work till 8:45 when we catch the bus and head back to the house. the work is good. I walk a bunch, and talk to a bunch of people. here, you have to be careful how you spend your time because everyone loves to talk, and if you´re not careful, you´ll teach someone forever and then find out later that they don´t really wanna change their lifestyle. we´re just looking for the elect. the peple that will hear the Gospel and follow its principles. sometimes its difficult: like last week, we came back and visited this girl, and she told us about how she had read a bunch of the book of mormon, prayed, and felt the spirit. and then she tells us about how she wants to continue in her own church. COME ON!! after that we answered her concerns and we´ll keep visiting her, but that happens to a bunch of people. that know that what we´re doing is right, but they´re just too lazy to change.
anyway, other cool things that happened this week:
caught a lizard in our house. he was about 2 in long, and really kinda lame. i was gonna name him, but then he wouldn´t even eat a misquito that i had caught and stunned for him. i let him go after that.
I`ve decided that my area, campos, is one of the most boring places in the world. its a hot, humid, flat, city with nothing to do. only a dirty river that runs through the middle of it. i´m just grateful that there are a bunch of other missionaries here, so on P-day we just play soccer a bunch (like today, we played soccer for almost 3.5 hours! ahh!)
well i gotta go. love ya guys. have fun with whatever you´re up to
